We currently offer 1 to 1 Piano, Singing, Ukulele, Guitar, Bass, Violin & Cello lessons to learners of all ages.
So whether you have a mini Hendrix at home waiting to bust out the riffs, tinkle those ivories like Lang Lang or croon like spine tingling singers such as Aretha Franklin & Adele, we've got your learning journey covered & we're keen to get you started.
Our lessons are fun and informal yet informative. We are a friendly bunch of teachers who are extremely passionate about music and want to pass that passion on to each and every one of our students! All teachers here at Christchurch Music School hold a current enhanced DBS.
We hope to offer more and more instruments in the future based on what you want to learn so do let us know what instruments you like to see at the school!

Piano
The piano is the most versatile of all the musical instruments and the best visual instrument for learning to read and write music. It is also the best instrument to start on to learn ensuing musical instruments.
We tailor our piano lessons to the individual's preferences and goals.
You will learn to read and relish the music in front of you, piano technique, scales, arpeggios and all that delicious music theory offers. It doesn't take long to be playing great melodies!
We mainly use the Rock School and John Schaum syllabus but you are very welcome to bring other pieces and books to learn from - the choice is yours!

Singing
Singing makes us feel good. Through it we can express ourselves, build confidence and beat stress!
Let us know your goals and aspirations and we will tailor lessons to suit you. You will learn about correct singing technique, group and harmony singing, different vocal styles, music theory and MUCH more through your learning.
You can also learn some piano to accompany your own singing in your lesson time.
We mainly use the Rock School and Progressive syllabus/method in our teaching of singing but bring in your ideas and songs that you would like to learn.

Guitar
From spanish and classical guitar to shredding, let us know what style of guitar you'd like to learn.
You will learn all about playing scales, chords and melodies on the guitar/ukulele with music theory, performance technique and so much more.
You can choose from various syllabus' from Rock School, ABRSM and others.

Violin/Cello
Whether you are a beginner or learnt Violin in your childhood and want lessons as a refresher, you will be learning about your instrument, tuning, positioning, posture and correct Violin technique. Through this you will learn music theory and get to choose the styles you wish to play.
The Violin is a beautiful, versatile instrument that is a pleasure to play.
You can choose to take exams or simply play for the love of the instrument!

DJ'ing

How to make a Party!.....
You can learn all about the basics of DJ'ing - collecting and compiling your tracks for a mix, learn about the kit and receive guidance on which hardware is right for you.
Among MANY other things, you will delve in to beat matching to make a seamless mix, understand using eq to make your mix sound dynamic, how to use filters and effects to add drama/colour, downloading and updating your music collection and where to post your mix to get an audience!
Drums
There are many reasons to learn the drums from developing confidence, synchronising the left and right side of the brain to learning many musical rhythms and styles from genres around the world.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual and a person of any age can learn how to play the drums.
We have a full electric kit here at the school, we hope to have a full acoustic kit/soundproofing in the next year.
You can go for the grades, receive guidance for school or further education, brush up on skills for a band or just learn to play for the love of the beat. Bu dum tshh!

Lesson time
We offer weekly lessons on your chosen instrument:
30 minutes - most popular for children between 5-approx 12 years old and older children/adults with busy schedules.
45 mins - great for older children and perfect for adults as it allows more discussion time for technique/theory etc.
60 mins - A more comprehensive weekly lesson which allows time for things like: extra music theory, planned performances, specific goals, GSCE, A-level or further studies.
Lessons run for 38 weeks of the year based on the school term dates.
Additional group lessons or workshops may be run in school holidays.
