We currently offer 1 to 1 Piano, Singing, Guitar, Violin & Cello lessons to learners of all ages.
Our lessons are fun and informal yet informative. We are a friendly bunch of teachers who are extremely passionate about music and want to pass that passion on to each and every one of our students!
All teachers here at Christchurch Music School hold a current enhanced DBS.
We hope to offer more and more instruments in the future based on what you want to learn so do let us know what instruments you like to see at the school!

Piano
The piano is the most versatile of all the musical instruments and the best visual instrument for learning to read and write music. It is also the best instrument to start on to learn ensuing musical instruments.
We tailor our piano lessons to the individual's preferences and goals.
You will learn to read and relish the music in front of you, piano technique, scales, arpeggios and all that delicious music theory offers. It doesn't take long to be playing great melodies!
We mainly use the RSL, ABRSM and John Schaum syllabus' but you are very welcome to bring other pieces and books to learn from - the choice is yours!
From age 6+

Singing
Singing makes us feel good. Through it we can express ourselves, build confidence and beat stress!
Let us know your goals and aspirations and we will tailor lessons to suit you. You will learn about correct singing technique, group and harmony singing, different vocal styles, music theory and MUCH more through your learning.
We mainly use the RSL and Progressive syllabus/method in our teaching of singing but please feel free to bring in your ideas and songs that you would like to learn.

Guitar
From spanish and classical guitar through to Electric & blues, let us know what style of guitar you'd like to learn.
You will learn all about playing scales, chords and melodies on the guitar with music theory, performance technique and so much more.
We are guided by the RSL syllabus for Guitar but welcome all repetoire/learning styles.
From age 7+

Violin/Cello
Whether you are a beginner or learnt Violin or Cello in your childhood and want lessons as a refresher, you will be learning about your instrument, tuning, positioning, posture and correct Violin or Cello technique. Through this you will learn music theory and can choose the styles you wish to play.
Both the Violin and Cello are beautiful, versatile instruments that are a pleasure to play.
You can choose to take exams or simply play for the love of the instrument!
From Age 7+

Lesson time
We offer weekly lessons on your chosen instrument:
30 minutes - most popular for children between 5-approx 12 years old and older children/adults with busy schedules.
45 mins - great for older children and perfect for adults as it allows more discussion time for technique/theory etc.
60 mins - A more comprehensive weekly lesson which allows time for things like: exam work, extra music theory, planned performances, specific goals, GSCE, A-level or further studies.
Lessons run for 38 weeks of the year based on the school term dates.
Additional group lessons or workshops may be run in school holidays.
